Not sleeping properly? Fine lines, uneven skin tone and reduced elasticity are some of the problems the skin can face if one is sleep-deprived, says a study. Cosmetic brand Estée Lauder, along with University Hospitals Case Medical Center, studied 60 women aged between 30 and 49, reports huffingtonpost. com. The effects their sleep patterns had on their skin was analysed. They were divided into 30 poor quality sleepers and 30 good quality sleepers. During the four nights of evaluation, tests were conducted to find out how each woman\'s skin fared. Skin problems were found to be greater among women who belonged to poor quality sleepers. Fine lines, uneven skin tone and reduced elasticity were twice as great in the poor sleepers. It was also found that recovery from sunburn was much slower as well. The sleep deprived women suffered from dehydrated skin and a dulled sensory response.
