An Algerian-French memorandum of understanding and cooperation on the actions that should be taken to finalize the process of creating the future Academy of Sciences and Technologies of Algeria has been inked Saturday in Algiers at the headquarters of Higher Education Ministry.
This memorandum was signed by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Mebarki and Permanent Secretary of the Academy of Sciences of France and head of the delegation of the academies of sciences and technologies of France Catherine Bréchignac, who is on a visit to Algiers (19-21 September).
“It is an autonomous space which will bring together Algerian scientists including those working abroad, particularly in France, and which will serve as a bridge with the other foreign academies,” said Mebarki.
For her part, Bréchignac welcomed the fact that Algeria chose France to contribute to the creation of this project.
On this occasion, the delegation will participate in an action plan leading to the finalization of the aforementioned project, which will culminate in the establishment of an international jury made up of the best five international academies.
