Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletics association, and in presence of Education Ministry’s Undersecretary for Resources and Services Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Jum'a, and ministry officials, the 8th World Robotics Olympiad (WRO2018) was launched as part of His Highness’s youth scientific development initiatives, organized by AMA International School in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
HH Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the continuity of this academic forum in its eighth successive edition confirms the achievement of its objectives in showcasing creative and innovative capabilities of students in science and technology fields. His Highness expressed his pride and boasting of this academic gathering which will have its positive effect in enhancement and uplifting the scientific activities in our beloved Kingdom.
His Highness affirmed that holding these functions on Bahrain’s soil reflects the extent of latest progress witnessed by education under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa thanks to His Majesty’s attention to this important sector considered the basis of comprehensive sustainable development.
The ministry’s undersecretary for resources and services praised His Highness’s scientific initiatives aimed to encourage students academic innovativeness and creativity, affirming the ministry’s supporting to such outstanding initiatives that constitute a qualitative addition in the educational field in harmony with the ministry’s persistent efforts to boost the harnessing of communication and information technology (ICT) in education. He pointed out that this academic demonstration presents opportunity to the participants to portray their talents and capabilities in the field of scientific innovation. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Khalid for his generous continuous patronage of the various national educational and scientific functions.
Student teams from the various primary, intermediate and secondary governmental and private schools will compete in offering their best innovative design and construction of robotics. The winning team will quality for the upcoming International Robotics Olympiad.
This contest aims to push students’ scientific innovativeness and provides them the opportunity to unleash their capabilities and potentials after introduction of the modern scientific principles and methods to them in the field of information technology. It also aims to develop the students’ cognitive, interactive and innovative capabilities and to boost the team spirit of cooperation and impart new educational skills that reflect positively in educational output.
