Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Monday with Vice President of Hiroshima University Yasushi Maruyama and the coordinator of the university’s affairs in Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs Essam Khamis, President of Ain Shams University Abdel Wehab Ezzat and Assistant Secretary for University Hospitals at the Supreme Council of Universities Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar lauded the distinguished scientific and research cooperation between Cairo and Tokyo, asserting that Egypt is open for boosting scientific and research partnership with Japan.
He promised to visit the university during his coming visit to Japan due in November for promoting cooperation between the Egyptian and Japanese universities and benefiting from the Japanese expertise in the field of higher education.
During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar discussed possibility to cooperate with the hospital of Hiroshima University to benefit from the Japanese expertise in this field.
During the meeting, the minister also discussed inking a memorandum of understanding between the ministry and the university.
Meanwhile, Maruyama said the university inked six cooperation memos with the universities of Cairo, Ain Shams, Aswan, Beni Suef along with Misr University for Science and Technology.
Also, four other memorandums of understanding will be inked with the universities of Alexandria, Assiut, South Valley and Banha for cooperation in the field of exchanging students and scientific researches, Maruyama said.
He voiced desire to hold a scientific conference including Egyptian universities and Hiroshima University to discuss cooperation in the scientific and research domains.
Maruyama reviewed cooperation between Alsun Faculty of Ain Shams University and Hiroshima University to develop the systems of studying the Japanese language in it.
