The European Space Agency (ESA) released a time-lapse video of the International Space Station (ISS) passing through the Aurora Australis or "southern lights."
The footage shot on July 23 shows the ISS flying over the South Pole as the green lights filled the sky.
Auroras are caused by charged solar particles hitting Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field. In the Southern Hemisphere, they are called Aurora Australis and in the Northern Hemisphere, they are called Aurora Borealis.
