The 7th International Inventions Fair of the Middle East (IIFME) opened Tuesday, due to last until December 5.
The Fair is rich with effective contributions and inventions from Arab and foreign countries, which underscores Kuwait's pioneering role in this regard, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah said on opening remarks of the event.
The Fair is held under the auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and is organized by Kuwait Science Club (KSC).
Expressing content over these inventions, the Minister hoped for Kuwait to become "incubator" of such innovations and a hub for world inventors to meet.
For his part, Director General of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) Dr. Adnan Shihab Al-Deen said that Kuwait is proud to line up with more than 28 countries and 150 inventors from all over the world in order to champion the event, a matter that Kuwait is keen on.
Some 21 Kuwaiti inventors are also present in the Fair.
Main international bodies taking part in the Fair include the UN's World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, and the Patent Office of the GCC States.
Local entities include Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), Kuwait University (KU), the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training colleges (PAAET), Sabah Al Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, private colleges, and several educational, scientific, research, governmental, and private bodies.
