A Malaysian communications satellite was launched into orbit Friday from the European space centre in French Guiana, state media said.
The launch of the 350-million-dollar Measat-3b was expected to boost the country's high speed broadband internet, the Bernama news agency reported.
'It will expand Measat's support of broadcasting and telecommunications satellite services in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and South Asia,' it said.
The satellite will become operational next month and has a lifespan of 15 years, dpa reported.
