His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received at his Majlis in Qasr Al Bahr this evening a delegation of the participants in the 18th Microcredit Summit, currently being held in Abu Dhabi under the theme "Frontier Innovation in Financial Inclusion."
The delegation included Queen Sofia, wife of the former King of Spain, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Younus, founder of Grameen Bank, Larry Reed, Director, Microcredit Summit Campaign, United States and other delegates, who were accompanied by Hussein Jassim Al Nowais, Chairman of the Khalifa Fund.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the summit participants, who briefed him on the summit's topics, programmes, best practices and success stories in microcredit.
He wished the summit participants success and expressed the hope that the summit would arrive at results that would serve the needs of the economic sectors in different countries and communities.
Present were H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs (ZHO), Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Sheikhs and senior officials.
The summit is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. It will explore how new and effective financial policies can contribute to the success of the Universal Financial Access 2020 goal, the World Bank's 2030 goals, and the U.N. Global Goals. The event is being held at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers, and is being organised jointly by Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, the Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND), and the Microcredit Summit Campaign.
