The Recycle 3 art gallery, themed "things around us," opened at the Modern Art Museum here on Wednesday with the aim being how artists can contribute to protection of environment.
Visitors of the gallery showed admiration for the ability of Kuwaiti artists to turn unwanted materials into creative works of art.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Mohammad Al-As'ousi said the exhibits offer examples of how the modern art is able to liberate artists from reliance on conventional materials.
"The exhibitors showed positive response to the new artistic trends through looking at used materials through a creative perspective and turning them into wonderful forms of art," he pointed out.
"In their works, the formative artists used scrap metals such as the parts of crashed cars, and waste of copper, aluminum, plastic, glass and wood workshops, as well as bamboo stems, palm tree branches and coral reefs," Al-As'ousi added. The gallery showcases the works of 24 artists.
