Game Director for Bethesda Game Studios

Bethesda Game Studios on Wednesday confirmed that it is preparing to launch a keenly anticipated new installment to the blockbuster 'Fallout' video game franchise.

A trailer for 'Fallout 4' posted online at YouTube revealed few details about the role-playing shooter game but featured its trademark mix of 1950s Americana and a post-nuclear apocalypse.

"We know what this game means to everyone," said game director Todd Howard.

"Time and technology have allowed us to be more ambitious than ever."

While a video trailer online at fallout4.com provided an enigmatic glimpse at the game, details are expected to be revealed at a press event being held by Bethesda at a major E3 video game industry gathering in Los Angeles later this month.

The new installment to the franchise follows 'Fallout 3,' which earned game-of-the-year accolades after its release in 2008, and a 'Fallout New Vegas' spinoff two years later.

Versions of 'Fallout 4' are being tailored for play on Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 consoles as well as on personal computers powered by Windows software.
