Taiwanese computer manufacturer Asus says its new Transformer Book Trio "three-in-one" laptop-desktop-tablet hybrid will run both Android and Windows 8. The Trio can be placed into a desktop dock, or used as an Android tablet or Windows 8 laptop, switching between OSes at the touch of a button, Asus said. With a 1,920 x 1,080 11.6-inch display, the tablet portion of the system runs a 2GHz Atom chip and comes with 64GB of storage, while the PC station dock features an Intel Core i7 chip and 750GB hard drive along with a keyboard, PC Pro reported Monday. The Trio is essentially an Android tablet with all the standard hardware inside that becomes a full Windows computer when plugged into its dock, which contains all the components of a desktop PC. The tablet is charged whenever it is connected to the desktop dock. "Despite the different operating systems, the Transformer Book Trio has been designed to smoothly transition between modes, allowing users to sync data or continue to surf the Web page they're on even when moving from notebook to tablet mode," Asus said.
