The total loans provided by the Egyptian banks, except the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), to customers increased by EGP 22 billion to reach EGP 1.358 trillion at the end of April, compared to EGP 1.336 trillion at the end of March.
In a statement, a copy of which MENA has obtained, the CBE said that the bank loans to the government reached EGP 305.3 billion in April, including EGP 126.6 billion loans in the local currency, and EGP 178.6 billion loans in foreign currencies.
The non-governmental loans also increased to reach EGP 1.05 trillion, including EGP 698.3 billion loans in the local currency.
