Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa

Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa attended the 2018 Future Investment Initiative (FII) as part of Bahrain’s delegation led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister.

FII is held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the chairmanship of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The minister stressed the advanced level of Bahraini-Saudi relations across all fields, especially in the steadily progressing field of energy. He highlighted the numerous and ongoing joint projects underway between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, notably the development of the pipeline between the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco)’s Refinery and the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Aramco).

Shaikh Mohammed affirmed that FII highlighted a number of future projects that would use cutting-edge energy and renewable energy technology, both of which are vital fields that are attracting ever more investment and are encouraging innovation and resource sustainability.

The minister stressed that Bahrain remains a major target for international investment, which regularly attracts international oil and energy companies, especially since the recently announced oil and natural gas discoveries.

He expressed hope that FII would result in more regional partnerships and investments, and emphasised the importance of sustainable development in a global context.
