About 5,000 people have visited Alexandria's Qaitbay Citadel within the first two days of Eidul Adha, chief of the Islamic and Coptic antiquities at the Antiquities Ministry Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Latif said on Saturday.
In statements to MENA, Abdel Latif expected that the number will triple on Saturday and Sunday.
The antiquities official said that Egyptians converged on archaeological sites on the first and the second days of Eidu al-Adha.
The citadel came on top of the list of archaeological areas that witnessed the highest turnout of citizens during the two days of Eid, he added.
Abdel Latif hailed the staff of archaeological areas for their effort to deal with the high turnout, urging them to spare no effort to prevent any problems impeding the movement of visitors.
