Alexandria - MENA
An administrative court in Alexandria upheld a decision by the Awqaf minister to not extend the preaching license of a member of a religious group in Beheira.
The minister’s decision was taken after the said member did not follow the ministry’s set theme for the Friday’s sermon.
Ignorant persons and non-specialists are banned from giving fatwas (religious edicts) and that Al Azhar, Awqaf Ministry and their affiliate bodies are obliged to renew the Islamic culture and clear it from trails of religious intolerance, the court has said.
