Port Said - MENA
Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh Al-Damaty has asserted the ministry's plan to develop the national museum in Port-Said in addition to other touristic sites in the governorate.
The plan comes in pursuit of putting Port Said on the tourism map of Egypt.
Reopening the museum comes within the framework of connecting all areas and tourist sites around the Suez Canal cities with the development projects of the New Suez Canal Corridor.
The statement came during the minister's visit to the museum on Thursday, accompanied by the governor, a raft of executive officials of the ministry, and of the governorate.
The museum is due to reopen in 18 months.
A comprehensive panorama telling the history of digging the Suez Canal is underway, stated the governor.
