Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty

The Antiquities Ministry foiled on Sunday an attempt to sell 36 Egyptian artifacts at a London-based auction house.
The statement was made by Antiquities Minister Mamdouh el-Damaty, who underlined that the pieces were illegally smuggled from Egypt in 1914.
A study is underway to prevent the scientific museums and institutes from selling Egyptian antiquities, according to the minister.
