Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb condemned on Friday a blast that targeted a Shiite mosque in Qatif in eastern Saudi Arabia, leaving scores of worshipers dead and injured.

"Bloodshed is forbidden and houses of worship should be distanced from conflicts," Tayyeb said in a statement, stressing the importance of not being dragged into sectarian rifts.
