Cairo - MENA
Al Azhar is fully ready to help the Libyan people through dispatching scholars and clerics to schools and universities to teach the moderate Islam.
Al Azhar Grand Sheikh Dr Ahmed el Tayyeb made the remark during his meeting Monday with Libyan Ambassador to Egypt Mohamed Fayez Jibril along with his accompanying delegation.
The ambassador, for his part, said that Libya is keen on reviving the old religious schools, which existed during the 19th and 20th centuries in order to confront extremism.
Cooperation with Al Azhar aims to protect the region from extremism, he added.
