A cooperation agreement was signed Sunday between the Buddhist Association of China and the Boudhanath Area Development Committee of Nepal on the project of repair and maintenance of UNESCO World Heritage site Boudhanath Stupa.
According to the agreement, the Chinese side will provide 2 million Chinese Yuan to the renovation of Boudhanath Stupa which was damaged by the massive earthquake that struck the country on April 25 this year.
On the occasion, President of the Buddhist Association of China Master Xuecheng offered a check of 1.6 million Chinese Yuan for providing education to Nepali orphans for the next three years.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Nepali Minister for Tourism and Culture Kripasur Sherpa thanked the Chinese side for continued support to Nepal, stressing that the bilateral relations between the two countries should be further strengthened.
Noting that Nepal has always been sticking to the One China Policy, the minister reiterated his country's commitment not to allowing anti-Chinese activities in the Nepali territory.
For his part, Master Xuecheng said that China, as a friendly neighbor, will provide more assistance to Nepal. Master Xuecheng expressed the hope that Nepal could build back better very soon.
