The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, EAD, is now receiving submissions for the Al Wathba Photography Competition, which was launched via its Instagram account in early February.
The competition, which runs until April 30th, aims to encourage professional and amateur photographers to capture creative images that reflect Al Wathba Wetland Reserve's natural beauty and rich biodiversity. Participants will be able to visit the recently-opened reserve to learn more about the rich biodiversity it embraces, and enjoy watching flamingo flocks in close proximity.
Khansa Ibraheem Al Blouki, Section Manager-Environmentally Sustainable Communities and Living Environmental Information, Science and Outreach Management at EAD, said, "The competition aims to encourage professional and amateur photographers to document the UAE's natural environment by highlighting Al Wathba Wetland Reserve as one of the Emirate's important ecosystems, providing a safe haven for Abu Dhabi's local biodiversity across air, land and sea." "Abu Dhabi's natural environment is blessed with rich biodiversity. Through launching this competition, we seek to highlight our natural heritage and contribute to raising environmental awareness. The competition also provides an opportunity for the community to re-connect with nature and learn more about EAD's initiatives in protecting the emirate's biodiversity," added Al Blouki.
