Cairo - MENA
The three wooden coffins that were found floating Saturday in Deir Mawas canal in Minya date back to the Greco-Roman era, an official at the Ministry of Antiquities confirmed.
The coffins, however, are completely free of any ancient Egyptian inscriptions or writings, said Youssef Khalifa, head of the Egyptian Antiquities sector.
The public prosecution has launched an investigation into the incident.
Following investigation, the coffins will be placed in a warehouse of museum in the town of El Ashmunein in Minya.
