The windows of the first and second floors of the Egyptian Museum were smashed due to the powerful explosion that occurred outside the Italian consulate in downtown Cairo on Saturday.
The museum's contents were not affected, however, by the blast, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Amen said.
Orders were given to fix the damage, he said.
The explosion left one person dead and nine others injured according to official reports.
