Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations Ambassadress Iman el Far said Egypt has recovered an ancient Egyptian artifact dating back to the 19th Dynasty of the Modern Kingdom of the Pharaohs.
The restored piece is a colored limestone tablet with inscriptions for King Siti.
The move comes as part of the efforts exerted by the Foreign Ministry and its diplomatic missions abroad in cooperation with the Ministry of Antiquities to restore Egypt's stolen antiquities.
The Foreign Ministry statement said the piece was found with an antiquity merchant in London and it was restored after the Ministry of Antiquity and Egypt's Public Prosecutor Office have taken all necessary measures to restore the piece which has been illegally smuggled to London.
Ambassadress El Far said experts from the Ministry of Antiquity received the tablet after examining it to check its authenticity.
