Paris - MENA
France will return to Egypt two smuggled relics on the occasion of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's present visit of the country.
The two artifacts were caught at the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and confirmed by the Louvre Museum as authentic. They date back to the Ancient Egypt and Roman Empire eras, the French Foreign Ministry said.
The two items will be handed over to the Egyptian embassy in Paris in a celebration to be attended by diplomats and officials from both countries, it said.
France is adamant to fight artifact smuggling, it added.
