Manama - BNA
The Information Affairs Authority (IAA) has launched a public awareness campaign on national TV under the theme "No to rumours".
The campaign aims to combat rumours, increase public awareness regarding the dangers and negative repercussions of rumours, lies and misleading news on the social media.
It says that such a destructive phenomenon threatens the cohesion, security and stability of communities and that rumours are deemed a gross violation of moral ethics and breach of universal humanitarian values, religious teachings and national as well international legislations.
The IAA's Director of Public Relations and Marketing Abdullah Khalil Bu Hijji said that the campaign was launched through a joint production with Studio Master and produced by Ahmed Al-Shaikh.
The campaign is part of the IAA's commitment to spreading awareness to preserve the safety and unity of the society and to explain facts and denounce rumour and strife mongers in line with the National Media Strategy and the Audio-visual Media Code of Ethics.
