Damascus - Sana
Lovers of the Italian music and poeticality experienced on Wednesday evening a deep sense of intimacy listening to a selection of poems by Davide Rondoni, one of the most interesting voices in new Italian poetry. The contemporary poet from Forli city was reciting to an enthusiastically interactive audience attending the Italian poetry and music evening on the fifth day of 'Poetry and Music Carnival', held at the Arts Gallery of the Syrian sculptor Mustafa Ali. It seemed that the characteristics of the place imbued from its location in the middle of the Old City of Damascus with the Damascene fountain in its center created a truly intimate and interactive music-poetry experience for the audience who enjoyed the peculiar hymns of Rondoni who occupies the position of the director of Modern Poetry at the University of Bologna. Rondoni's poems were recited within a uniquely esthetic musical atmosphere created by the music of pianist Mel Morcone, blended with the voice of the sound recordist and singer Alicia Bassini who mixed Jazz and the Blues with the Funk music of Portugal.
