Madrid - KUNA
The book fair on the subject of "Kuwait" continues in the Islamic library in Madrid, to spread knowledge about the country's modern history, culture and heritage.
The fair entitled "Kuwait in the books of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID)", was inaugurated on October 10 by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Spain Suleiman Al-Harbi. The fair is part of Kuwait Embassy's celebration of 50 years of establishing the Kuwaiti-Spanish diplomatic relations.
The library's Chairman, Luisa Mora, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the exhibition attracts about 100 visitors daily. The event aims to showcase Kuwait's past as well as its current culture and development including the country's works of literature and its role in the region, she added.
Meanwhile, Mora noted the importance of developing the translation of Kuwaiti books into Spanish to create a better cultural understanding and cooperation in the field.
She also stressed that the library must benefit from modern technology in creating a collection of important historic books from national Arab libraries and universities for an easier access.
The fair which will run for at least three months, includes 100 books and manuscripts from the libraries of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, written in Arabic, English and Spanish.
The books' topics include the Iraqi invasion, Kuwait's maps, poetry, literature, ancient and modern history and Kuwait's international relations.
