Algiers, Oct 8, IRNA – The advisor to the culture and Islamic guidance minister here on Saturday underlined cultural unity among Muslim countries across the globe. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Iran’s Cultural Week during the Algerian Talisman Festival, Mohammad Reza Azarshab said Muslim scholars have in the past had regular contacts with one another and this have created a cultural solidarity among the Muslims. He also noted that the Iranian and Algerian scholars played a significant role in the establishment of Islamic civilization. Azarshab also hoped that holding cultural weeks and festivals will pave the way for promotion of cultural unity among the Muslims. Referring to the designation of Talisman as the Islamic World Cultural Capital by ISESCO in 2011, he also pointed out that holding the festival will serve as a starting point for promoting cultural ties among the Muslims. Talking at the same ceremony, Algerian Culture Ministry’s representative, Al-Akhzar Anderyas said that Iran’s Cultural Week will help promote cultural cooperation between Iran and Algeria. Holding photo exhibits and educational workshops on miniature, carpet weaving, illumination and handicrafts are among the programs of the cultural week on the sidelines of Talisman Festival.
