Antiquities police managed to arrest a person in Matay in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya with 7,453 pieces of antiquities in his possession.
Investigations revealed the antiquities date back to Pharaonic, Islamic and Greek-Roman eras.
They included statues and precious stones of different designs, sizes and materials.
The arrested confessed to possessing the antiquities with the aim of trading in them while the security agencies took legal measures against him.
