Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab witnessed on Monday the opening of the first stage of an initiative for renovating the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
Antiquities Minister Mamdouh Damaty, a raft of other minister as well as the Cairo governor and James Moran, the head of the European Delegation in Cairo were present.
Moran said the EU will grant around 900,000 euros to help in restoring the museum.
The initiative has been floated by a son of late Khedive of Egypt Abbas II Hilmi.
