Qatar Stamp Collectors Club has won a gold medal and two silver medals in the Japan World Stamp Exhibition (PHILANIPPON 2011), which was held from July 28 to August 2 in Yokohama, under the theme ‘Stamps Link the World.’ Deputy Board Chairman of the Club Hussein Rajab Al-Ismail said the Japan World Stamp Exhibition, which displayed over 3000 portraits was organized by the Federation Internationale de Philatelie- FIP (the International Federation of Philately), was inaugurated by wife of the Emperor of Japan with a number of ambassadors, Japanese notables and world philatelists attending. The exhibits were governed by a panel of international referees who expressed admiration over the Qatari exhibits, explaining that Qatar Stamps Collection Club won a gold medal for its exhibits on the postal history of Oman Sultanate and two silver medals on the postal history of each of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Some 67 country took part in the Exhibition including five Arab countries namely Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt, in addition to continental associations, international postal offices and stamp traders. The Asian continent won the three grand awards (the national award, the exhibition\'\'s grand prix and the international grand prix).
