The qualifying rounds of the 12th Edition of Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Award, the largest contest of its kind ever organized in the Kingdom of Bahrain, have quick-started. The event is being organized by the Holy Quran Custody Society under the patronage of HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King.
The competition activities take place at the Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Center with the participation of 56 Holy Quran memorizers and reciters from 56 countries from around the world.
The qualifications have kicked off on Saturday 6 and will continue until Tuesday 9th of December 2014. There will be mourning and night sessions: the first begins at 9 am and the second starts after Maghreb prayer with the final ceremony to be held on Thursday, December 11th at 7pm. Invitation is open to all.
The Award’s Organizing Committee Chairman Abdul-Ghani Al-Omari said: “ we are happy to organize this prominent Islamic event which is the byproduct of from our commitment at the Holy Quran Custody Society and keenness of Syed Junaid Alam Foundation to serve and take care of the Holy Book of God Almighty and its memorizers and reciters.
This award will bear fruit as it will reflect a good image of the Kingdom of Bahrain among the Islamic countries, he noted.
Al-Omari pointed out that Syed Junaid Alam International Quran Award has won the best international competition in the Holy Quran, granted by the Muslim World League (International Commission for the Memorization of the Quran) in 2014, which has greatly encouraged and motivated us to work hard to maintain this its status as the largest award in the world.
With regard to the importance of the award at the international level, Al-Omari said the organization of the Award for memorization and recitation of the Holy Quran with the participation of 56 countries from different continents of the world makes it a first-class international award,” adding that the participants do not represent the Arab and Islamic countries only, but also represent countries from the far Orient and Maghreb.
He added that the six-member jury are senior memorizers and reciters of the Holy Quran in addition to being religious scholars renowned for their sound and deep knowledge.
The Award’s Organizing Committee Chairman Abdul-Ghani Al-Omari said the patronage of His Majesty's Personal Representative, His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-, of the activities of this award is a care we cherish, and it testifies to the keenness of the wise leadership on supporting and encouraging the organization of religious competitions.
This, he said stems from taking the Holy Quran as a guide and source of inspiration in Muslims’ lives and behavior. Al-Omari praised the support of the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments for the award, and lauded the great efforts made by the various departments and departments of the Interior Ministry which facilitated the organization of this event.
He also invited the public to visit the site of the award activities and to attend the qualifications as well as the closing ceremony, due next Thursday at Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Center.
