Pope Theodoros II, Greek Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, invited President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to attend the opening of Mar Girgis Monastery on April 24, voicing hope that the ceremony could be sponsored by the Egyptian presidency and government.
This came in a statement distributed by the Greek embassy in Cairo.
The statement said Pope Theodoros II is currently leading a high-profile delegation on a visit to South Africa and praised the role played by the Greek Orthodox community in South Africa.
