Cairo - MENA
Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Arabi discussed over the phone on Sunday with UN Special Envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon the developments in the North African country in light of the UN-mediated national dialogue sessions.
Arabi reiterated the Arab League' support of the UN envoy's efforts to get all Libyan sides sign the fifth draft of the political agreement.
Arabi urged all Libyan parties to sign the draft and place the country's higher interests above any other consideration so that a national unity government would be formed to be responsible for achieving stability and rebuilding state institutions.
The UN Security Council on Wednesday urged Libya's parties to sign an agreement to form a national unity government and threatened sanctions against those who stand in the way of a deal.
Libya has two rival parliaments and governments, with Tripoli controlled by Libya Dawn forces who seized the capital last year, forcing the internationally recognized government to operate out of Tobruk, in the northeast of the country.
