Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun met with Europol Director Rob Wainwright on Thursday, according to a release from the Ministry of Public Security on Friday.
Guo said he hopes China and Europe will strengthen Europe in fighting terrorism and transnational crime.
Guo said China is willing to enhance cooperation on law enforcement and security to contribute to the bilateral partnership.
Wainwright said Europol attaches great importance to cooperation with China and is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation in law enforcement and security.
Europol was created under the EU's 1992 Maastricht Treaty and became operational in 1994. It has its headquarters in The Hague in the Netherlands.
