Foreign Minister meets US counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, met in Washington today the Secretary of State of the United states of America Rex Tillerson, and discussed the progress of the outstanding historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America and the means to bolster these ties at the political, economic, trade, security and defense levels for the benefit of the two countries. 
The minister affirmed the pride of the Kingdom of Bahrain in its strong ties with the US, as the two countries share a strategic alliance and that the Kingdom of Bahrain is considered a major non-NATO ally with deep-rooted business interests that are expanding under the FREE TRADE agreement between the two countries.
The minister also expressed Bahrain's keenness in boosting these relations for the benefit the two countries.
Shaikh Khalid expressed his appreciation for the great efforts exerted by the US to combat terrorist organizations and include elements that threaten peace and security in the lists of global terrorists as well as its strategic role in solving the crises and problems of the region. 
The minister also reiterated the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in solidarity with these efforts in order to achieve regional stability based on the positive relations among the countries of the region, including the role of the United States in the fight against terrorism, giving the people of the region and the world hope for greater security and progress. 
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, welcomed the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirming the friendly ties and joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields as well as continued joint action to overcome extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. 
The two ministers also exchanged views on current developments at the regional and international levels of joint interest.
