Iraqi President Fuad Masum on Wednesday met Jan Kubis, special representative of the U.N. secretary general in Iraq.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed developments of the war on ISIS and the operation to liberate Mosul from the group.
Masum stressed that Iraqi forces are making great progress in the liberation of Mosul and eliminating ISIS group, noting that the basic principle that controls operations is to preserve the lives of Iraqi civilians.
For his part, Kubis said that achieving security and political stability in Iraq and the region comes at the forefront of U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
