Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas

The Palestinian president, in his speech at the Islamic summit, noted that the decision of the US president on Al Quds as the capital of Israel is a flagrant violation of international law and signed agreements.

The decision also violates United Nations Security Council resolutions especially those stipulating no country is allowed to move its embassy or foundations to Al Quds, he added.

Such unilateral decision by the US president will not invest Israel with legitimacy in Al Quds, he added, noting that Al Quds is an Arab, Palestinian, Islamic and Christian city and it is the eternal capital of the Palestinian State.

No doubt that this wrong step on the part of the US will encourage extremist and non-extremist groups to turn the conflict from a political to a religious one, he said, wondering who is stirring religious conflict in the world and who created the terrorist groups in the world.
