President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Thursday head of the ruling Democratic Union Volcker Cawdor in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the German ambassador to Egypt.
During the meeting, Cawdor conveyed the greetings of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to President Sisi, said Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.
He also voiced Germany's appreciation of Egypt's crucial role in attaining security and stability and confronting terrorism and extremism.
Germany is keen on promoting economic cooperation with Egypt and contributing to pushing forward development efforts, he added.
He also said that the deputy of German chancellor and the economy minister along with a delegation of German companies will pay a visit to Egypt during this month.
The exchanged visits over the past period reflect the development of ties between Egypt and Germany, he went on to say.
He further hailed Egypt's efforts in attaining stability and economic and social development.
Germany is keen on intensifying consultations with the Egyptian side on ways of reaching political settlement to the crises in the region, he added.
Sisi, meanwhile, voiced keenness on promoting ties between Egypt and Germany in the various spheres.
Sisi also pointed out to ongoing efforts to attain comprehensive development.
He also hailed Germany's stance in dealing with the refugees crises.
