Berlin - MENA
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier conferred with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin here on the latest development in the Palestinian and Israeli arena in light of the new Israeli right-wing government and discussions on the two-state solution.
In statements to MENA, Palestinian Ambassador to Germany Kholoud Daibes said that the German Left Party filed a request to the parliament to recognize Palestine to rescue the two-state solution.
The party called for German support to help Palestine get full membership in the UN, she said.
Rivlin is to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel later today to discuss the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Middle East peace process.
