German President Joachim Gauck met on Monday with his Israeli counterpart Reuven Rivlin, who began a three-day state visit to Germany to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He will meet with Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller and visit Brandenburg Gate later in the day.
The Israeli president will also hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
