Cairo - MENA
Head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II met Tuesday evening with the muftis of Lebanon and Egypt Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian and Shawki Allam, respectively.
Derian expressed his appreciation for Egypt and Al Azhar, saying Al Azhar is the key Islamic reference for all Muslims in Lebanon.
He stressed that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism and killing, saying all divine religions call for preserving human being's dignity, rights and freedom.
He hoped that Tawadros would exert more effort to enhance Muslim-Christian unity, saying "we cannot imagine Egypt and Lebanon without Christians and the current killing and deportation are not related to Islam in anyway".
Pope Tawadros, on his part, underlined the importance of accepting the other side's culture, saying this is the key for co-existence.
