Libyan parliament speaker Aqila Saleh will arrive in Cairo Wednesday to take part in a celebration marking the inauguration of the New Suez Canal.
His participation comes at an invitation received from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Saleh's information adviser Abdel Hamid al-Safi said Tuesday.
Al-Safi expressed his pleasure along with the Libyan officials on the Egyptian new project, stressing the interest of Saleh in partaking in the historic event due to the status Egypt enjoyed among the regional states.
He praised the New Suez Canal project as a significant shift in the process of the economic reform and progress Egypt witnessed under the leadership of Sisi.
Al-Safi said the project came in a critical time due to the regional developments and Egypt's endeavor toward stability.
