US rock musician Iggy Pop, a key collaborator of David Bowie on tracks including "China Girl", paid tribute Monday to the icon following his death, calling him "the light of my life".

"David's friendship was the light of my life. I never met such a brilliant person. He was the best there is," he said in a statement posted on Twitter.
