'Iron Giant'

The 1999 animated film Iron Giant is returning to theaters, and as any upcoming release deserves, a new, remastered trailer has been revealed.

Published exclusively by Yahoo News, the new trailer of Brad Bird's critically acclaimed classic features the memorable friendship between the Iron Giant -- voiced by the then-budding actor Vin Diesel -- and the young Hogarth Hughes.

The Signature Edition of The Iron Giant will re-release in participating theaters around the country on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.. Encore screenings will occur Oct. 4 at noon. Digital and Blu-ray versions of the film will be available for purchase in the fall.

The Warner Bros. film was Bird's debut project before he proceeded to helm The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol, Tomorrowland and more.

In this animated adaptation of Ted Hughes' Cold War fable, a giant alien robot (Vin Diesel) crash-lands near the small town of Rockwell, Maine, in 1957. Exploring the area, a local 9-year-old boy, Hogarth, discovers the robot, and soon forms an unlikely friendship with him. When a paranoid government agent, Kent Mansley, becomes determined to destroy the robot, Hogarth and beatnik Dean McCoppin (Harry Connick Jr.) must do what they can to save the misunderstood machine.
