Over 2,000 public transportation buses serve Greater Cairo citizens with the start of the new academic year including 950 that were newly allowed to the service, Cairo Governor Galal Mostafa Saeed said.

The daily capacity of public transportation reaches 3 million passengers in addition to another half a million people transported by minibuses, he said, adding that the number of minibuses in Cairo is 1,200.

All the 28 garages of the Public Transport Authority work regularly, Chairman of the authority Rezq Mostafa said.
