Foreign tourists visit the Hatshepsut Temple, in Luxor, Egypt

Luxor International Airport on Sunday received 231 Japanese tourists as part of of the operation of a second phase of Japanese charter flights.

The first of Japanese charter flights were operated on April 23 till May 7, with four monthly flights, a flight per week, from Osaka Airport to the Luxor International Airport.

The Japanese tourists were accompanied by a representative from the national carrier EgyptAir, who specially traveled to Tokyo to escort the passengers.

Senior officials, including the Luxor security chief Essam el Hemali, received the Japanese tourists upon arrival, where folklore celebrations were held to welcome the passengers.

The tourists are to visit the tourist sites and monuments across the ancient city.
