Albania granted EU candidacy spelling good news for country's tourism

 The number of international tourists who entered Albania for vacations or short visits reached 229,632 during the second quarter of 2014, local media reported on Saturday.
Meanwhile the number of Albanians who spent their holiday abroad rose by a very modest figure, in comparison to the international arrivals, according to Albanian Telegraphic Agency.
During the second quarter of this year, international visitors to Albania rose 29.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, meanwhile Albanians who went abroad for the same period rose by 3.6 percent.
About 86 percent of the vacationers preferred to enter the Albanian territory through land corridors, about 10 percent travelling by plane and 3 percent by sea, Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said.
Visitors from European countries account for about 95 percent of the international arrivals. In breakdown, visitors from Eastern Europe rose by 25.6 percent and those from Western Europe by 15.4 percent, compared to the second quarter of 2013.
