Tourism revenue in the Republic of Cyprus set a new record in August reaching 312.1 million euros. At 16.9% this was the biggest annual increase in 13 months data released by the Statistical Service showed as Cyprus Mail reports. Data based on the Passenger Survey, show revenue from tourism increased to 312.1 million euros in August compared to 267 million in August 2011. The period between January and August this year saw revenue reach 1.32 billion compared to 1.22 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 8.5%. The August figure was the biggest increase since July 2011 when revenue recorded an increase of 18.8%. The second biggest revenue from tourism was 306 million euros recorded in August 2007.
